JOB OPENING:

PART-TIME

UTILITY OFFICE CASHIER/BOOKKEEPING CLERK

The City of Cushing is accepting applications for the position of Part-time Utility Office Cashier/Bookkeeping Clerk.  This position will have hours of 10am-2pm, Monday through Friday.

Hourly pay will be $10 an hour.

The ideal applicants must possess the following skills:

  • mathematical
  • cash handling
  • organizational skills
  • computer skills

This position requires shift work.  Applicant needs some knowledge of stationary engines and generators and the equipment, materials and supplies used in their general maintenance.

JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN

Applicant must possess a valid Journey Electricians Licenses from the state of Oklahoma.  Applicant must possess or have the ability to obtain a minimum of a Class “B” CDL certification with air brake endorsement. 


 

JOURNEYMAN LINE WORKER OR APPRENTICE LINEMAN

The City of Cushing is now accepting applications for an Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman to work under the supervision of the Electric Superintendent and Line Supervisor. 

Applicant must be skilled in the construction and maintenance of high voltage and low voltage electric line’s, overhead and underground to include installing and removal of electric poles, transformers, insulators and associated equipment etc. See Job Description.

Must have working knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in the electrical field; working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; Considerable knowledge of the principals of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and wiring diagrams and the ability to apply this knowledge to working situations.

Must be willing to relocate to Cushing area. (2) STREET DEPARTMENT SKILLED LABORERS

The successful candidate will be able to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work, and operate a variety of equipment in the construction, operation and repair, maintenance and replacement of city street, alleys and drainage rights-of-ways. They should have the ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public and the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.  The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.

The successful candidate will have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.  They must have a valid State Driver's license and a Class “B” CDL certification with air brake endorsement, or ability to obtain one within the six (6) month probationary period and have a sufficient driving record for City's insurance carrier.

The City of Cushing will accept applications for the position of Treatment Plant Operator at the Water Plant.  Applicant must possess or have the ability to obtain a Class “D” Oklahoma Water Operators license within 6 months of employment.  Within 24 months a Class “C” Water Laboratory license and a Class “C” Oklahoma Water Operators license is required.

AIRPORT MANAGER

The City of Cushing is conducting a search to fill the position of Airport Manager. This position is very "hands on". The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge in the business and operations of a general aviation airport serving a small community and will bring ideas to expand activity at the airport with aviation related and other uses. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess personnel managerial skills to direct a laborer and soft skills required to interact cordially with professional and private pilots as well as local officials, media, and the general public. Annual compensation is $40,000.00 to $50,000.00 plus a very generous City employee benefits package.
