The City of Cushing is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Full-time Service Center Administrative Tech.  Responsibilities include maintaining vehicle records, tracking invoices and parts inventory, maintaining the Service Center budget, answering phone calls, radio dispatching, bookkeeping, and other responsibilities. Composes, types and edits correspondence, reports, memorandums, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy and completeness. Must have the ability to prepare, organize and maintain reports; Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule; Ability to communicate orally and in writing; Ability to understand and following written and oral instructions. Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in the daily operations of the office, including Excel is required.


Job Duties include:

Enforces animal related City ordinances and provides services to protect the public's health safety and welfare by performing the following duties. • Responds to calls for assistance and/or citizen complaints by operating a city vehicle and utilizing the police radio and emergency equipment. • Patrols the city and takes appropriate measures to bring compliance with city ordinances.

• Impounds stray and owner released animals. Traps wildlife that poses a nuisance or risk to the public. Provides efficient, caring humane treatment to all animals under their care and control.

• Completes required reports and maintains records in accordance with city policy and state law.

• Ensures the proper and legal disposition of animals through owner claims, adoptions, and transfers to humane organizations.

• Provides humane euthanasia under the direction of the Animal Control Supervisor for animals: deemed non-adoptable; that pose a threat to the health and safety of the citizens or their pets; or when necessary to prevent prolonged suffering to animals that are ill or injured.

• Cleans and maintains the animal shelter, shelter equipment, and vehicles.

• May be required to appear and testify in court regarding animal-related cases.

• Mandatory on-call outside normal business hours, weekends, and holidays.


(a) Graduation from High School or its equivalent.

(b) One year of work experience, with previous work with animals, livestock, or exotic animals such as birds, desirable.

(c) Must complete State Certification for Animal Control Officer within one year of employment and maintain such Certification throughout employment.

(d) Must obtain NEWCO License within one year of employment.

(e) Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and maintain a status of insurability.

The City of Cushing is now accepting applications for a Journeyman Lineman to work under the supervision of the Electric Superintendent and Line Supervisor. 

Applicant must be skilled in the construction and maintenance of high voltage and low voltage electric line’s, overhead and underground to include installing and removal of electric poles, transformers, insulators and associated equipment etc. See Job Description. 

Must have working knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in the electrical field; working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; Considerable knowledge of the principals of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and wiring diagrams and the ability to apply this knowledge to working situations.

Lineman Application


The City of Cushing, Oklahoma Fire Department is currently seeking highly motivated men and women who are passionate about serving the public and delivering the highest level of professional service as a firefighter. The Cushing Fire Department is a progressive and dynamic municipal department located in Payne County, Oklahoma. The firefighter position is a non-standard, rotating work, shift schedule (nine 24 hour shifts in a 27-day work period, 24 hours on-duty and 48 hours off with on-call expectations), requiring weekend and holiday work. It is the goal of the Cushing Fire Department and the community to provide ALS care to the citizens it serves. Preference will be given to applicants who possess a National Registry and/or State of Oklahoma paramedic license.


  • Minimum of 18 years of age at time of employment offer

  • High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency
  • Be physically fit and be able to pass a department administered physical agility test in accordance with the state pension system.
  • Be able to provide an OSBI background check

Those candidates that achieve a passing score for both tests will move forward to the interview process. Structured interviews with a Cushing Fire Department interview panel will be scheduled for those that successfully pass both testing sessions. We anticipate those interviews will be conducted within one (1) week of the completion of all testing. After the interview those candidates selected by the interview panel will move forward in the process by sitting for an interview with the Fire Chief. Successful candidates who receive a conditional job offer will be required to successfully pass a psychological and medical exam, urine drug screen, and pre-employment background screening. Cushing firefighters are required to establish residency so as to be able to report for work within 20 minutes. Starting salary for Firefighter is $32,084.40/yearly and $35,084.40/yearly with Paramedic certification. Police Officer

The City of Cushing, Oklahoma is seeking to fill positions for Police Officer.
Cushing Police and Fire recently moved into a state of the art public safety center. Cushing is a diverse community of approximately 7,853 ideally situated less than 1 hour from Oklahoma City and Tulsa. We are also within 30 minutes of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
Non-certified salary starts at 33,814. Salaries are negotiable for CLEET certified candidates, up to $36,768.83 based on training and experience. Both certified and non-certified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Cushing Officers are now allowed to reside within 35 minutes of city limits. Officers who successfully complete the FTO Program and reside within 15 minutes of city limits are eligible to participate in the take home vehicle program.
